BREAKING NEWS: Kyrie Irving of the Mavericks talks up for the first time following his surgery.

The Dallas Mavericks faced another defeat after falling to the Boston Celtics 4-1 in the 2024 NBA Finals, just a few weeks after experiencing heartache. Superstar guard Kyrie Irving suffered a broken left hand during offseason training, and the Mavs revealed that he had surgery.

Fortunately, Irving is in excellent spirits despite the setback. No recovery schedule or date has been announced for Irving to resume basketball-related activities.

“Crew, I am grateful for all of the prayers and messages. After a demanding season, GOD genuinely understood that I needed to take a vacation from basketball and give myself some time to recover. My passion is improving my trade, but right now I have to take it easy and recuperate.

2022 saw Irving sign with the Mavericks following his contentious time with the Brooklyn Nets, where he had demanded a trade. The Mavs witnessed a significant uptick in their fortunes last season, as they made it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011. Despite missing the postseason after his arrival, things had improved somewhat.

While he and Luka Doncic guided the Mavericks to the fifth seed in the Western Conference the previous season, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds. They advanced to the NBA Finals after defeating the Trailblazers, Clippers, and Thunder, but they were unable to overcome the Celtics to win the title.
