Giannis Antetokounmpo Makes Top Scorers Over Last 10 Years

Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Among Top Scorers Over Last 10 Years: Where Does He Rank?

When it comes to scoring, there are few who can stop two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo when he’s inside the paint. Turns out, though, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar is more proficient in this part of the game after being named as one of the best scorers in the past decade.

Antetokounmpo has spent his entire NBA career with in Milwaukee. After playing for the youth team of Filathlitikos in Athens, he entered the 2013 NBA Draft and was selected 15th overall by the Bucks.

He quickly emerged as a rising star in the league. In the 2016-17 season, he became the first player in NBA history to finish in the top 20 in total points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. He was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player that year.

Over the following seasons, the Greek Freak solidified his status as one of the league’s elite players. He was named an NBA All-Star eight times, including being selected as an All-Star captain in 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024. Antetokounmpo won back-to-back MVP awards in 2019 and 2020, and was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2020.

The pinnacle of his career came in 2021 when he led the Bucks to their first NBA championship in 50 years and was named the Finals MVP. Despite coming up short in subsequent seasons, the Bucks star has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players of his era.

According to an article written by Eddie Bitar for Fadeaway World, James Harden has led the NBA in scoring over the last 10 years. After him, Antetokounmpo comes in second place with 17,977 points.

“Giannis Antetokounmpo follows closely with 17,977 points. Giannis’s unique blend of size, speed, and skill has made him a nightmare for defenders, dominating the paint and showcasing an ever-improving jump shot even if he has not won a single scoring title yet,” Bitar wrote.

Interestingly enough, All-Star point guard Damian Lillard followed the Bucks forward in third place with 17,894 points. Both players are now teammates in Milwaukee after the team’s front office acquired him last year.

EzoicIt remains to be seen whether Antetokounmpo can overcome Harden down the line. But even if he doesn’t the Greek Freak’s natural knack for scoring will always be recognized as one of the best during the past 10 years.
