Next Month, Lonzo Ball Will Begin Playing 5-On-5s

On the most recent episode of The WAE Show, Lonzo Ball provided an update on his injuries, and thankfully, it was good news. Ball stated that as early as next month, he plans to begin playing 5-on-5.

“I’ve been getting asked this question a lot,” Ball replied. “Dude, I’m still excited to play the first game. I believe that playing 5-on-5 for the first time in August will be my first big test. I’ll provide a more thorough update at that time. However, thus far, everything is going great, and I’m becoming stronger in the weight room. I don’t currently have any grievances.”

Every week, I feel more at ease,” Ball said. As I spend more time on the court, I can feel my movements returning to normal. Finding that balance in how much stress I can put on it during the day is all that’s required. attempting to balance it at the moment. But like I mentioned, once I start playing 5-on-5, I’ll comprehend that better.”

Ball, who was selected second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, has already missed more than two years of action. The 26-year-old’s final NBA game was against the Golden State Warriors on January 14, 2022. It’s wonderful to know that a comeback to the court might not be too far off because it had seemed at various stages since then that his career might be gone.

Ball’s horrific injury history started in January 2022 when he tore his left meniscus. After arthroscopic surgery, he was predicted to recover in 6–8 weeks, but that wasn’t the case. He had arthroscopic debridement in September of that year, and his only anticipated absence was from the beginning of the 2022–2023 campaign.

But Ball remained absent throughout the season, and in February 2023, he was declared out for the whole thing. Ball himself stated he will miss the full season following knee surgery, dashing any expectations that he would play in 2023–24 before the season even began.

After undergoing a cartilage transplant procedure, Lonzo’s return to the court is almost miraculous. Ball discussed the severity of his injury and the need for a meniscus transplant from a donor. It sounded awful, and he also required a bone transplant. Thankfully, it appears that the nightmare is now over.

How successful Ball can be after missing so much time is still to be determined. When we last saw him, he was averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game for the Chicago Bulls in 2021–2022. He was also averaging 1.8 steals and 0.9 blocks. Is he ever going to return to that level? We’ll find out in time.

It’s said that the Bulls want to trade Lonzo Ball.
Ball is quite confident that he will return to the court the next season, but it’s possible that he won’t be donning a Bulls outfit. Josh Giddey is the new point guard the team will be using going forward, but they have supported him during this time.

Chicago is now undergoing a comprehensive rebuild, and it is claimed that the Bulls are looking to trade Zach LaVine and Ball. For the simple reason that he will be making $21.4 million next season, I don’t see a team making a trade for Lonzo, even though a buyout or trade is predicted.

Right now, the only way I can see the Bulls moving on from Ball is through a buyout. I believe he will have some possibilities if he does in fact become a free agency because organizations would be prepared to take a chance on him for a cheap price.
