The Portland Trail Blazers signed a six-year veteran to a new contract, creating an extremely crowded backcourt.

Devonte’ Graham is joining the Portland Trail Blazers on a one-year contract, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Graham played in 46 games over the course of the previous two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 8.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest before moving to Portland.

Before the 2024–25 season begins, Devonte’ Graham is expected to battle for a roster spot in the Portland Trail Blazers training camp, according to Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report. The team currently has 15 available roster places.

The Atlanta Hawks picked Devonte’ Graham with the 34th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft; he was later traded to the Charlotte Hornets. Graham did not play much in his first NBA season. However, in his sophomore campaign, he had a breakout year, averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 37.3 percent from three-point range per game.

Following that, he agreed to a four-year contract worth $47 million with the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2023, he was moved to the San Antonio Spurs.

Following his trade to the Charlotte Hornets a few weeks ago, where he was cut by Charlotte, Devonte’ Graham became a free agent this summer. Before he was waived, his $12.65 million contract had a $2.85 million partial guarantee.

Now, the depth of the Portland Trail Blazers’ guards
The Portland Trail Blazers now have five guards in their rotation after adding Shaedon Sharpe, Devonte’ Graham, Anfernee Simons, Dalano Banton, and Scoot Henderson.

Before the new season begins, the franchise is reportedly eager to trade Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant, but neither team has indicated that they would be prepared to give up the two first-round picks Portland is requesting.

The Portland Trail Blazers, who lost Damian Lillard in a trade last summer, are currently rebuilding. Their plans center on their children, Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson.
