After leaving Loftus Road at the end of the previous season, the 25-year-old signed a one-year contract with the option to stay for an extra year at Fratton Park. Dozzell, who spent the second half of the season at Birmingham after making 55 Championship appearances for the R’s last season, will give the Blues much-needed second-tier experience as they prepare to enter the Championship for the first time in twelve years. Blues boss John Mousinho stated: “Andre brings plenty of Championship experience, having spent the majority of his career at this level. He’s chosen to come here over other options and is someone who has a real ambition to succeed at this club.” “We are excited to welcome André to Pompey. He is a very technical midfielder with the athleticism to get around the pitch and compete.” Dozzell, who attended the Ipswich Academy, joined the Tractor Boys at the age of sixteen. He scored the equalizer in a Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday, thus the event was much more memorable. After being acquired by QPR in the summer of 2021, Dozzell played 98 games for the London team while on loan at Birmingham for the second part of the previous campaign. A former youth international for England, he was a member of the team that won the 2017 European U19 Championship.
