It’s been a long time coming for Ja Morant’s second signature shoe with Nike.
Shortly after the Nike Ja 1 made its debut in February 2023, the Memphis Grizzlies star found himself embroiled in controversy. In March of that year, a gun-related social media post put his season on hold and in May, a similar incident resulted in another suspension that carried into the following NBA season.
All the while, Nike stood by him, and after a brief hiatus, the Ja 1 releases continued throughout the year. Now, with the traditional yearly timeline for signature sneakers having come and gone for the arrival of the Ja 2, it looks as though Nike Basketball is finally gearing up for the launch of Morant’s next model.
