Luka Doncic recreates the famous scene from ‘Hustle’ where Kermit Wilts (Anthony Edwards) was talking trash to Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangomez).
Toward the end of Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Luka Doncic was seen heading toward Anthony Edwards. Doncic had something to say to Edwards and while doing so, the 25-year-old ended up recreating that famous scene from ‘Hustle,’ where Kermit Wilts (Edwards) was talking trash to Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangomez).
After the game, Doncic was asked about this interaction with Edwards but he wouldn’t reveal what he said. There was probably some foul language there I suppose. As for that scene in the movie, Wilts was talking about Cruz’s daughter, but I doubt Doncic was doing anything of that sort here.
This isn’t the first time that we have seen Doncic interacting with an opponent in this manner, of course. The Slovenian famously taunted Devin Booker in Game 7 of the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals and there was another instance of him talking to James Harden in their first-round series earlier in these playoffs.
The Timberwolves might as well book their flights to Cancun at this point. The Mavericks beat them 116-107 to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals and I don’t see them making a comeback from here.
Doncic had 33 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block in Game 3. The Timberwolves continue to have no answer whatsoever for the five-time All-Star. Doncic has just dominated against a defense that had looked ever so good in the first two rounds of these playoffs.
Edwards, meanwhile, finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals. It was by far the best game of the series for the two-time All-Star but it wasn’t good enough to get the win. Edwards was anonymous for much of the fourth quarter too and the Timberwolves can’t beat the Mavericks when that happens.
