Lillard is gearing up for a promising bounce-back season with the Milwaukee Bucks after a challenging first year. Joining the team just before training camp left him struggling to find his role alongside Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, resulting in a notable dip in his performance. His scoring average fell from 32.2 points per game with the Portland Trail Blazers to 24.3 points last season.
Despite these challenges, Lillard maintained an average of about 26 points and acknowledged the stress of transitioning to a new city while dealing with personal issues, including his divorce. He believes that having a full year to adapt will greatly benefit him moving forward. The point guard has been actively communicating with his teammates and has even been training with endurance athlete David Goggins to enhance his physical conditioning.
With a renewed focus and the ability to build chemistry with his teammates, Lillard is poised to reclaim his elite scoring form. The Bucks finished 49-33 last season and are expected to contend for the NBA title, especially now that he feels more settled in Milwaukee. He remains confident that he can elevate his performance back to the levels seen during his prime, making him a key asset in the Bucks’ championship aspirations for the upcoming season.
