Everton Injury Update Ahead Of Newcastle Crash

Sean Dyche and Everton will be looking to build on last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace when they host Newcastle United at Goodison Park.

The Toffees won their first game of the season last time out, a 2-1 win over the Eagles, buoyed by Jarrad Branthwaite’s return to fitness after a groin injury.

However, Everton will still be without as many as four first team players for the clash with the Magpies. Like Branthwaite, full-back Nathan Patterson has featured for the Toffees U21s side on his return to fitness, after a hamstring injury he sustained back in April., but Dyche says the Scottish international is still some way off returning to the fold.

The Toffees are also set to be without Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti and Seamus Coleman for the visit of Eddie Howe’s side. The latter of the trio injured his leg in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-0 defeat to England in the Nations League last month.

The 35-year-old has been left out of the Republic of Ireland’s international squad for the upcoming break, ruling him out of this weekend’s clash with the Toon.

Loanee, Broja, has been ruled out until November as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury. The Toffees are keen on managing his return, having not yet made his debut after joining the club on loan from Chelsea

Fellow forward, Chermiti, is yet to play this season after undergoing surgery on his foot earlier this summer. Everton have not revealed a timeframe for his recovery, but he’ll most certainly miss this weekend’s game.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Dyche told the Liverpool Echo: “They’re a bit longer those two [Chermiti and Broja], Coleman’s a bit longer too. Not too much longer, we’d be hopeful over this international period that he gets closer.

“Patto is more common sense now. He’s out training all the time, but he needs a game programme after being out just about that six-month mark, so a bit of a longer term situation but he’s making good progress and he’s training regularly, and so far, so good.
