Only a handful of Boston players, who’ll be on the ice in that game were dressed for this one. But Montgomery was disappointed in his team’s lack of energy coming in.

Bussi made 30 saves as the Bruins were outshot 32-17, continuing his upward trajectory after a slow start to camp.

“I thought Brandon Bussi was the only reason it was a close game. He gave us an opportunity going into the third only down one,” Montgomery said. “I think he got better and better and obviously this was his best game. Every outing he got better. Same thing in practice.”

Brad Marchand, who missed a large chunk of camp, first coming off of injury and then due to illness, was in the lineup. He played 19 shifts over 15:54 including almost three minutes on the power play.

“The team overall, we got a lot accomplished,” he said. “I’ve liked the practices and the execution in practice better than the majority of the games.
