Dallas Mavericks: Former 7-Time NBA All-Star On Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic has gained a new fan in Tracy McGrady. McGrady recently took to Instagram to reveal that he thinks the Dallas Mavericks could win it all in the 2024-25 NBA season with the Slovenian point guard leading the way.

McGrady added that, besides winning the Larry O’Brien Trophy, Doncic could also win the league and Finals MVP since he is that good.

“I can’t see the (Boston) Celtics doing it again,” McGrady stated. “F*** it man, Luka (Doncic) gon’ sweep the board… My preseason pick for NBA champ is gonna be the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas made it there last year, I got Luka being the regular season MVP.”

“So, my NBA Finals pick is gonna be Luka Doncic. He’s gonna sweep the MVP this year. He’s gonna win it in the regular season and he’s gonna win NBA Finals. Luka Doncic is taking home two MVP trophies along with the Larry O’Brien trophy,” the former seven-time NBA All-Star emphasized.

The fifth-seeded Dallas Mavericks (50-32) are coming off an unexpected NBA Finals run last year, ultimately falling short to the Boston Celtics in five games.

Tracy McGrady added that having Klay Thompson is one of the main reasons he is backing the Dallas Mavericks to win the championship, echoing Nico Harrison’s statement about the former Golden State Warriors swingman.

“Well, we knew we were close, and, I kind of say this—it has a good ring to it—but we were a Klay away. And we feel like he’s the guy that can take us over the top,” Harrison said about Thompson during a recent interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio.

However, Thompson has yet to regain his bearings with his new team. The four-time NBA champion averaged only 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game and shot 24.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range in the preseason.
