Super Star Living Out His Dream Of Playing For Kentucky

When Travis Perry committed to the Kentucky Wildcats last year, it came as a shock to many fans.

Perry is the all-time leading scorer in KHSAA history and added a state title on top of that this past season — beating fellow Wildcat teammate Trent Noah in the finals — and then headed to Lexington, where he and the rest of the team officially moved in a few weeks ago and began summer practices last week.

Perry spoke with the media at the new Club Blue New Era event, a meet-and-greet for Big Blue Nation to meet an entirely new Kentucky basketball team.

“It means a lot; it’s a huge honor. It’s great to meet and interact with all of these people. I think pretty much every person has said thank you for being here,” Perry told KSR at the event. “That’s just something you don’t get a lot of places. That’s something that means a lot. Whether they know it or not, it means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to the other guys.

Even though Perry is a freshman, he quickly tried to prepare his teammates, also new, to what BBN and the state of Kentucky is like. Perry was once a little kid that attended games at Rupp Arena to watch his beloved Wildcats play.

Now? He’s currently partaking in summer workouts and taking summer classes at the University of Kentucky getting ready for his freshman season. How is he feeling?

“It’s a dream come true. You always expect it a little bit, but until you get on the road and get up there, it’s a different feeling,” he said. “I remember coming to camps, waiting outside the Lodge trying to get autographs. Now I’m the one walking into the Lodge to go to my room. It’s just stuff like that puts it in perspective, how blessed I am to be able to live out a dream. It’s just really exciting.”
