Wake Forest transfer forward Andrew Carr has officially arrived in Lexington and has a message for Kentucky fans ‘Can’t wait to make a lot of shots here’

Slowly but surely, Kentucky’s roster is officially arriving in Lexington. With the roster set to be fully enrolled within the next week and workouts beginning soon, the next phase of the Mark Pope era is officially beginning.

11 new faces who have never played a second of basketball with each other are coming together this summer and look to learn a new system, deal with the expectations of playing at Kentucky and work on their chemistry. So, needless to say this offseason is critically important.

One of the key’s this season is Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr. The 6-foot-10 forward is someone who has the ability to unlock the UK offense and be the versatile option that has typically thrived in Mark Pope’s offense.

He averaged 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds a game last season while shooting 37.1 percent from three. His ability to stretch the floor is the important part of his skillset.

“Andrew Carr is the prototypical college and NBA power forward,” Pope said in a statement about Carr’s signing. “He’s incredibly skilled and an elite level decision maker. He shoots the ball with terrific range and is a force inside shooting 66 percent on 2-point field goal attempts.”

Carr’s ability to play on the perimeter is going to be a valuable asset for Mark Pope and pairing him alongside center Amari Williams and Brandon Garrison. Neither are threats from the wing, so having Carr — who hit 36 3s last year — gives Kentucky space offensivley.

“What’s up Big Blue Nation. Super hyped to be here in Lexington,” Carr said in a video when he arrived on campus. “This is an awesome city, getting used to the country has been a really great experience. Super excited to be here. Can’t wait to make a lot of shots here and then show you guys what we’ve been working on at Rupp. Ready to get to it.”
