Draymond Green gives his “happy as hell” explanation. Klay Thompson departed the Warriors.

-

Although many of the guard’s former Golden State Warriors teammates found it difficult to accept his leaving, Draymond Green and Stephen Curry were undoubtedly the ones who were most affected. The three of them formed the cornerstone of the Warriors dynasty, and they saw one of The Splash Brothers choose to start over.

Although Green is “happy as hell” that his longtime teammate is no longer with him, it sounds like he is fully aware that Thompson’s choice was about more than just basketball, as he stated on the “Club 520 Podcast.” “I’m overjoyed that he’s gone. He wasn’t happy anymore, which is why I’m glad he’s gone. I simply want what’s best for you as a brother, not what’s best for me or this team,” Green remarked.

It’s not shocking that Green brought up Thompson’s discontent, but this is the first time it has been brought up in public. Given the details of the 34-year-old’s contract negotiations with the Warriors, it’s understandable that Thompson could feel betrayed by the franchise that chose him with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Thompson will now play for the defending Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, where he will get plenty of chances to play against his old squad.
