Formal Rangers On Kemar Roofe

Brighton forward Abdallah Sima has reacted to Kemar Roofe’s goodbye message to the Rangers supporters following his Ibrox exit this summer.

The Jamaican international departed Glasgow upon the expiry of his contract having struggled with injury issues for the majority of the campaign which limited him to just six Premiership starts and a single goal.

Sima also left the Gers at the end of the campaign when his loan spell from the Seagulls came to an end, but the two forwards have been quick to interact on social media as attentions begin to turn to the off-season.

Posting on his Instagram page on Saturday (8 June) Roofe shared a compilation of his best moments in a Rangers shirt with the caption: “It’s my turn to hand back the 25 jersey after four years at this special club!

“The video showcases the memorable moments on the pitch but I’ve made friendships for life off of the pitch too. I’m officially a fan of Rangers from now. Thank you Gers for having me.”

Sima was quick to comment simply replying with a red heart emoji and an image of two hands forming a heart.

Will Rangers sign Abdallah Sima permanently during the summer transfer window at Ibrox?

While this may just be a small reaction, it does show that Sima has not already completely distanced himself from Rangers and you would imagine he is one of those friends that Roofe was alluding to in the original post.

He may have only spent a season on loan in Glasgow, a lot of which was spent stuck on the treatment table, but Sima has had a genuine impact on the side and it is clear he has enjoyed his time north of the border.

Convincing him to return this summer won’t be hard, but getting Brighton’s blessing could be more difficult. The Seagulls are expected to test the market this summer and it seems unlikely the Gers would fare favourably in that scenario.

Hopefully, a deal can be struck but fans shouldn’t be expecting anything to happen in the coming days. This could be a saga that rumbles on through the entirety of the summer window.
