Hull KR Boss Looks Into Issues As Player Punished For Dissent Against Castleford Tigers

Discipline is an area that Hull KR want to fix up despite the convincing margin of victory against Castleford

Hull KR coach Willie Peters set his sights on improving their discipline after Jesse Sue was yellow carded and seven penalties were conceded in the 36-6 win over Castleford Tigers on Friday night.

Despite the comfortable victory margin, it was worth looking at those areas to fix up as Sue was punished for dissent – and some of the penalties that were given away were conceded cheaply. Asked about whether discipline was an area to assess, Peters replied: “Yes, that’s an area. We need to improve. We pride ourselves on that. It’s an area we’ve been strong in throughout the year. I think we are down the bottom in terms of yellow cards and red cards and that type of thing, because we want to be a disciplined team. I’ll find out from some individuals what was said or what happened out there but we certainly want to fix that.”

Sue’s yellow card came when Rovers were 20-6 up early in the second half, having recovered from conceding an early try. The Samoa-capped forward’s absence did not significantly hinder Rovers though, with the Robins pulling further clear on the scoreboard in the latter stages.

On the overall display, Peters said: “We bombed a few tries, we left some points out there, but I was really pleased. It was a slow sort of start but I was happy with the way we responded. I thought we dominated field position, we won a lot of parts of the game that we wanted to.

“To play and go to the levels we did last week (in the win at Warrington Wolves”, sometimes it can be difficult to do that again, but I thought we dominated the majority of that game, especially after that slow start. We defended well. There were a couple of line breaks that Cas made but overall I thought we were pretty tight with our defence.”
