On Saturday In the afternoon, the visiting Detroit Tigers will try to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays in a series forthe second time this year. In the First game of a three-game series, the Blue Jays were defeated 5-4 by the Tigers on Friday night. They defeated the Blue Jays three out of four times in Detroit from May 23-26.The Tigers had two-run homers from Mark Canha and Wenceel Perez on Friday. The other run scored on a single by Riley Greene that extended his hit streak to seven games. He is 12-for-28 (.429) on the streak with four doubles and six RBIs.
Canha (right wrist) was treated during the break after leaving last Saturday’s victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. In regards to handle the injury, Canha stated, “It’s being smart, managing my preparation and not overdoing it.” “Swings not too many. That seems like it will “Be important going ahead, but I also want to make sure that I’m in the training room every day and doing everything I can to support myself.”
It was his first home run since May 11 and his eighth of the season. “You have those droughts every once in a while,” Canha stated. “It’s nice to finally get one.” Javier Baez, the shortstop, was sidelined last Saturday due to a lower back ailment and did not play on Friday. He is expected to begin on Saturday. “He’s feeling great and available,” stated AJ Hinch, manager of the Tigers.Toronto had two-run homers from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer on Friday. Over his past 19 games, Springer is batting .362 (25-for-69) with six homers and 21 RBIs. Guerrero’s homer hit the facing of the second deck. “I think he broke a part of the scoreboard out there,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. “That was a pretty impressive at-bat.” Guerrero’s 15th homer of the season came off the bat at 117.5 mph and traveled 445 feet.Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (right calf strain) was removed after the sixth inning on Friday and replaced by Leo Jimenez. Bichette was on the injured list June 15-24 with a similar injury. He also missed the four games before the All-Star break with a sore calf. “He’s going to get an MRI tomorrow and go from there,” Schneider said. “It sucks for him and for us.” Detroit’s Gio Urshela continued to hit well in Toronto.
