Latest news : One player could be crucial to the Warriors winning. Markkanen Lauri

The Utah Jazz are apparently still interested in talking about a possible deal for Lauri Markkanen because of one player on the Golden State Warriors.

For a few weeks now, the Jazz All-Star has been connected to the Warriors. After Klay Thompson left earlier this month, Golden State desperately needs a second scorer to complement Steph Curry.

The Jazz seem to have their eye on Warriors sophomore Brandin Podziemski over everything else in any Markakken deal package. NBA columnist Marc Stein claims that Utah’s interest in Podziemski is “serious enough” to maintain the possibility of Markkanen joining the Warriors.

The Warriors “would be more willing,” according to Stein, to cut ways with forward Jonathan Kuminga.

The contract circumstances of Kuminga and Podziemski differ significantly from one another. While Podziemski is just in his second year of a four-year rookie contract, Kuminga is entering the last year of his rookie agreement. In order to retain Kuminga for an extended period of time, the Jazz would probably need to work out an agreement with the 21-year-old if they were to sign him.

In any Markakken trade package, the Jazz appear to be more interested in Warriors sophomore Brandin Podziemski than anything else. According to NBA analyst Marc Stein, Utah’s interest in Podziemski is “serious enough” to keep Markkanen from signing a deal to play for the Warriors.

Forward Jonathan Kuminga’s departure from the Warriors “would be more willing,” according to Stein.

Kuminga and Podziemski’s contract circumstances are very different from one other. Kuminga is about to enter the final year of his rookie contract, while Podziemski is just in the second year of a four-year deal. If the Jazz were to sign Kuminga, they would likely have to come to an arrangement with the 21-year-old in order to keep him around for a long time.

Podziemski’s debut season with the Warriors saw him average 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Now that Thompson’s starting guard position is open, the Santa Clara product may have a significant part in the upcoming campaign.
