Leeds United have missed out on a bargain £4.3m agreement as 20-y/o joins Glen Kamara – View

Jordan James of Birmingham City was recently linked to Leeds United, however he has decided to sign with Glen Kamara’s Stade Rennais.

Leeds, who approved two significant purchases this summer, now have the task of making sure they have the proper midfield talent for the remainder of the year.

After Archie Gray was let go, Glen Kamara—who had transferred to Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 back in July—was the next to go.

Jordan James is rumored to be joining Leeds from Birmingham City. Formerly, Football Insider said that Leeds was interested in midfielder Jordan James, a Wales international who was signed by Birmingham City.

Naturally, James scored eight goals from central midfield last season as the Blues were demoted to League One. Jordan James and Rennes strike a cheap £4.3 million deal.

Although Birmingham doesn’t intend to stay in League One for very long, James has shown himself to be a talent more than worthy of playing above the third tier, and he won’t be around for the drive for promotion at the age of twenty.

Willy Gnonto spends the summer at Leeds?

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this week that James is actually traveling to Rennes, France, for a definitive update on his future.

After losing Enzo Le Fee to Roma in July, he joins Kamara at the Ligue 1 team to form a midfield rebuilt.

L’Equipe revealed intriguing information about the sum Birmingham agreed to pay for their outstanding midfield player, a pitiful £4.3 million.

This would be half of what Leeds agreed to pay for Kamara to leave for the same team, and it would be a major coup for Rennes.

Leeds must have been quite interested in the Welshman for him to depart for such a small sum of money, and Elland Road must not have made much of an attempt to reach a compromise.

James is undoubtedly not the finished product, but one aspect of his game—his goal threat from midfield—would have given Leeds’ team an immediate boost. He scored eight goals last season, and the Whites’ first goal from midfield came in game 48 at Elland Road against Norwich City thanks to an inventive free kick by Ilia Gruev.
