Mavs waive Alex Fudge and sign Kessler Edwards to a two-way contract.

-

Kessler Edwards has officially signed a two-year contract with the Mavericks, the organization announced in a news statement. Alex Fudge, a two-way forward, has also been waived.

Last month, news of the arrangement with Edwards was released. In 138 career games—27 of which were starts—Edwards has averaged 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 11.9 minutes with the Nets and Kings. Edwards played 5.1 minutes a game and averaged 1.7 points in 54 games for Sacramento last season.

This summer, Edwards was eligible for restricted free agency; however, the Kings chose not to provide a qualifying offer to him, thereby allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent.

Despite just playing in two games, Fudge signed a two-way contract with Dallas in the beginning of March. Before being waived in the first few days of January, the 20-year-old small forward played in four games with the Lakers during his two-way contract. Last season, he made 27 appearances in G League games.

The 21-year-old Fudge played collegiately for Florida and LSU before being selected in the offseason.

The Mavericks have created an open two-way spot by waiving Fudge. The other two-way berth is occupied by guard Brandon Williams.
