MLB strikeout predictions for July 24: Ryne is fading just perfectly

We still need to find our first winning day of the week as we went 1-1 on Tuesday with one rainout in strikeout props. With our three top K props for Wednesday’s MLB slate, let’s pile some winners.

Gerrit Cole vs the Yankees at 7:05 p.m. ET, over 6.5 Ks (-110 FanDuel)

To begin the season, Cole appeared rusty. With at least seven strikeouts in his previous three outings, the reigning AL Cy Young winner is beginning to resemble his former self. He only had 11 strikeouts in his first 13.0 innings of work. Cole has a fantastic record when facing the New York Mets. He has 168 total plate appearances and is striking out 26.2 percent of the current Mets lineup, good for a.203 hitting average. Cole, in our opinion, never gets old.

Rays vs. Blue Jays, 7:07 p.m. ET, Zach Eflin under 3.5 Ks (+135 DraftKings).

Although this is a low total, in six of his previous 11 starts, Eflin has struck out fewer than 3.5 batters. With the second-highest chase contact rate and the second-lowest whiff rate in MLB this season, the Toronto Blue Jays lineup presents another challenging matchup. The Blue Jays’ current batters are batting.288 against Eflin in 76 plate appearances, with a pitiful 11.8 percent strikeout rate.

At 8:10 p.m. ET, Ryne Nelson under 3.5 Ks (-132 FD) diamondbacks against royals

Although Nelson has crossed this mark in three of his previous outings and is coming off an eight-strike out effort against the Chicago Cubs, now is the ideal moment to take a chance on him. The Kansas City Royals have the lowest K rate in MLB this month (16.7 percent) versus righties, but the Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander is in the sixth percentile for whiff rate (18.4%) and the 12th percentile for strikeout rate (17.0 percent).
