Prospect Profile: Drew Bavaro

On June 10, 2000, Drew Bavaro was born in Bradenton, Florida. Vito, the brother of the defensemen, played as a right wing for Sacred Heart University for four years, from 2016 to 20. During his four years at Lawrence Academy Prep School in Massachusetts, Drew participated in 117 games and finished with 20 goals and 43 assists. In addition, from 2016 to 2019, Bavaro was a member of the Neponset Valley River Rats 16U and 18U teams, where he played with two future NHL players, Sam Colangelo and Henry Thrun.

Bavaro joined the British Columbia Hockey League’s Wenatchee Wild for the 2019–20 campaign. In 51 regular season games, he recorded nine goals and 24 points, and in five postseason games, he contributed one assist. In the 2016 USHL Futures Draft, Bavaro was selected 145th overall by the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL, but he chose not to play. Bavaro Drew Dedicated to Bentley University
After committing to Bentley University for the 2020–21 campaign, Bavaro finished with two goals and ten assists in 16 games, earning him a spot on the All-Rookie Team. The right-shot defenceman was named a First Team All-Star after recording nine goals and eighteen assists in 36 games the following season. Bavaro was not selected in the draft, but on March 12, 2024, the Boston Bruins signed the blue liner to a $925,000, one-year contract with a $867,500 salary cap hit. After joining the Providence Bruins, Bavaro played seven games before finishing the season. This winter, he is expected to start the season with the AHL team.
