Red Sox Notes: Boston Is Looking For A Change In Their Declining Losing Run

-

With a 9-3 record and 11 games over.500 heading into the All-Star break, the Boston Red Sox had plenty of momentum.

That has disappeared once Boston started playing again.

Thus far in the unofficial second half, the Red Sox have lost all four of their games. A series-opening extra-inning loss to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Monday dealt another devastating blow. After falling behind 4-0 early on, the Red Sox rallied to tie the game. After that, Boston led twice in extra innings before giving up the lead in both instances. In the critically important final stretch of the season before the MLB trade deadline on July 30, the Rockies prevailed in the 12th inning, leaving Boston reeling.

As seen on NESN’s postgame coverage, Alex Cora told reporters, “Just show up tomorrow, man.” Here, we had a fantastic game. In LA, we had three fantastic games. You come and play tomorrow.

As seen on NESN’s postgame coverage, Zack Kelly told reporters, “We understand where we’re at.” “We are aware of the duties assigned to us. We’re not having a poor baseball game. In these games, we play. It’s just not working out for us at the moment. We still have a chance to win this series and spend a week at home.

The Red Sox have been one play or two away from winning each of these past few games, with the exception of Sunday’s home run parade from the Dodgers. The Boston clubhouse believes that these kinds of movements will level out.

As seen on NESN’s postgame coverage, Tyler O’Neill told reporters, “We’ve played a lot of tough baseball against a couple good teams.” The Dodgers are undoubtedly a very strong squad. It’s always a chore, man, playing in this environment when you visit Colorado. In these games, O’Neill continued, “we’re just one swing away, one out away.” We have a good chance of winning these final four games 3-1. That’s just how baseball operates.
