Top 25 Kentucky Basketball Makes ESPN’s Way-Too-Early

We’re still over four months away from the start of college basketball season, but it’s never too early for way-too-early top 25 rankings.

ESPN recently released their Way-Too-Early Top 25 Rankings, with Kentucky checking in at No. 23 on the list. That is ninth out of the nine SEC teams included in the rankings. Let that tell you something about how tough the SEC is going to be this upcoming season.

The Wildcats are entering their first season with Mark Pope as head coach, and he looks to bring his 3-point shooting to Lexington after stretching defenses in the Big 12 with it at BYU.

Seven transfers highlight Kentucky’s roster, including BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson. Robinson is joined by Koby Brea (Dayton), Otega Oweh (Oklahoma), Kerr Kriisa (West Virginia), Andrew Carr (Wake Forest), Lamont Butler (San Diego State) and Amari Williams (Drexel).

Texas, one of two newcomers to the SEC this season, is one spot ahead of Kentucky in ESPN’s Rankings at No. 22. Florida (21), Ole Miss (20), Arkansas (14), Tennessee (13), Texas A&M (12), Auburn (11) and Alabama (2) are also included in the Rankings. Kansas tops the Rankings, largely aided by Hunter Dickinson returning this season.

Kentucky’s first scheduled game is against Duke on Tuesday, November 12th, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
