Two of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ prospects will be playing for Canada in the World Junior Showcase this summer.
Two Toronto Maple Leafs were included in the 42 players who accepted Hockey Canada’s offer to compete in the World Junior Showcase this summer.
Easton Cowan, a 2023 first-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Noah Chadwick, a 2023 sixth-round pick, are among the attendees.
The showcase will take place in Plymouth, Michigan at the end of the summer from August 26 to September 3.
In order to get ready for the World Junior competition that takes place around Christmas, the Canadiens will play against the USA, Sweden, and Finland in addition to their practices.

Cowan’s inclusion on the Canada roster for the tournament will only be prevented by an injury or if he plays for the Maple Leafs. The native of Mount Brydges made his debut for his country at last year’s tournament, when he was the second-youngest player on the Canadian squad, behind Macklin Celebrini, this past June’s first overall choice.
In the five games during the competition, Cowan scored two points, but regrettably, the team did not return with a medal. The tough forward went on to dominate Canadian Major Junior hockey, winning the Ontario Hockey League MVP award and leading his team to an OHL Championship and Memorial Cup runner-up position after he returned to his junior club in London.
Returned players Scott Ratzlaff, Oliver Bonk, Carson Rehkopf, Matthew Wood, and Brayden Yager will join Cowan. Ratzlaff appeared in several games as the team’s third-string goalie the previous season and appears to be the clear favorite to start in the tournament.
Celebrini was extended an invitation as well, but he declined it as he would be captain of the San Jose Sharks this NHL season.

Although Noah Chadwick has never played for his nation, he may don the Canada shirt this Christmas after making enormous progress following his draft season.
The product of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was chosen with the 185th overall pick in 2023 after scoring 20 points and scoring five goals in 67 games. He went back to the WHL, almost tripling his production to 12 goals and 56 points in the end, earning him an entry-level contract and his Toronto Marlies debut in the AHL.
After receiving an invitation to the Maple Leafs training camp, the 6’4″ left-handed shot defenseman will rejoin the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the next fall season.
