The Warriors led 10-4 at the break following tries from Tom Burns and Cody Lyons-Ashworth despite Castleford cutting the lead with an interception score.
An emphatic second half performance from the Warriors saw five converted tries scored without reply as Wigan closed the Scholars season with an big win.
Despite conceding a penalty in the opening minute for a high tackle, the Warriors regained possession 40m out after a Castleford kick failed to find touch. After a strong carry through the middle from Harry Mikhail, the ball was played into the hands of Burns who dummied through to score within two minutes.
The Warriors continued to ask questions of the Castleford defence in difficult conditions as Clayton Mayberry almost scooted over to extend the lead, however, the hooker was stopped short of the line.
Castleford almost levelled the contest on their first attack when forwards Louie Adamson and Joseph Huskins went close with powerful carries, however, the Warriors stood firm before an incorrect play the ball turned possession over on the final tackle.
Wigan increased their lead on 18 minutes when a change of pace from Jacob Davies saw the winger accelerate through a gap before a combination of inside passes allowed Lyons-Ashworth to dive over next to the sticks. Matthew Halton added the extras for a 10-0 advantage.
Strong defensive work once more from the Warriors denied a possible Castleford try after 23 minutes when Joshua Hawkin was forced into touch, however, the visitors cut the points difference after half an hour when Alfie Morgan intercepted a pass to score. Noah Lazenby was unable to add the extras as the score remained 10-4 at the break.
The Warriors extended their lead to 12 points three minutes after the restart when Tom Farrimond broke through multiple tackles to ground under pressure with Halton adding the extras.
An emphatic 10 minute spell around the hour saw the Warriors score four converted tries to seal the two points in their final outing of the season.
First a blistering 60m run from Alfie Silcock saw a fourth try scored in the corner before quick hands along the line led to Jacob Davies fending off an attempted tackle to dive over in an identical position. Halton added both kicks from the touchline to widen the lead to 28-4.
The Warriors continued to attack the Castleford defence as T. Farrimond produced a neat step to score his second of the evening on 62 minutes before a move on the opposite edge resulted in Isaac Makhaza powering over after receiving the ball 10m out. Halton was successful with both kicks to put Wigan 40-4 ahead.
